ROEL’s Ruselprom Concern assembled and delivered sophisticated items of electrical equipment for LK-60YA class Arctica icebreaker

The LK-60YA class is a Russian class  of nuclear-powered icebreakers; they are the largest and most powerful icebreakers ever constructed. Formerly known as Project 22220 icebreaker, it is a class of three nuclear-powered icebreakers. one launched, two in construction at Baltic Shipyard in Russia.

The first ship, Arktika,  was laid down in November 2013 and is launched on 16 June 2016, the ship is the world's biggest and the most powerful icebreaker surpassing the current leader, which is the Russian icebreaker 50 Let Pobedy.

The icebreaker is equipped with three propulsion motors (HED) produced by Ruselprom. It has developed and built three asynchronous propulsion motors to drive the propellers, the two main generator driven by a steam turbine with a set of excitation control system, and electric devices for de-icing. In addition, "Ruselprom" manufactured and delivered the engines to the compressor to drive different pumps. These are the unique 310 tons engines with a capacity of 20MW and as much as 27,000 horsepower.
